Naming your TiVo box will make it easier for you to use the Remote Scheduling and Whole-Home features.
You can change the name of your TiVo DVR using My Account. If you are using a Premiere series DVR, you can also change its name using the TiVo menus.
Changing the DVR name using My Account
To name your TiVo DVR:
Step 1: Go to My Account.
If you have not used Manage My Account before, click the Register button and follow the prompts to set up online access to your account.
Step 2: Log in to your account.
Step 3: Click DVR preferences in the menu on the left side of your screen.
Step 4: Type a new name for your TiVo DVR in the DVR provided. Your TiVo DVR name should include letters, numbers, and spaces only. Use of any special characters may prevent you from being able to use Online Scheduling or Multi-Room Viewing.
Step 5: Click Save when finished. The new name will appear on the System Information screen the next time the TiVo DVR connects to the TiVo Service.
Note: If you'd like to start using your TiVo DVR's new name sooner, wait 15 minutes to one hour and to the TiVo service.
Changing the name on a Premiere series DVR using the TiVo Menus
Note: This option is only available on Premiere series DVRs with HD menus using software version 20.2.2 and above.
Step 1: From TiVo Central, go to Settings & Messages > Settings > Remote Control, CableCARD, & Devices > Name this DVR
Step 2: Choose one of the names provided or enter a unique name.
Note: If you need to repeat Guided Setup, this option will appear. There is no need to change the name of your Premiere DVR if you have already designated one.
Step 3: to the TiVo service.
I just renamed my TiVo DVR and the name change doesn't appear
